Nurturing children to thrive in their own element.
At Kids Element, we support children and young people to participate in the activities they find meaningful in their lives. All kids have their own unique strengths, which we nurture alongside guided therapy to build the skills they need for independence, confidence and engagement.
Our therapy works within your element as a family so you and your child can thrive!
Hi, I'm Sophie — your child's occupational therapist.
I started Kids Element because I believe therapy should feel like play, not homework. For over a decade I've worked alongside children and their families to build confidence in the everyday moments that matter most: holding a pencil, tying shoelaces, sitting through dinner, or simply feeling okay in a noisy classroom.
Every child's path looks different, and that's exactly the point. Sessions are built around your child's interests and your family's goals — never a one-size-fits-all worksheet.
"My job isn't to fix your child. It's to help the world make a little more sense to them — one small step at a time."
Sophie is a dedicated paediatric Occupational Therapist who specialises in delivering mobile therapy within children's natural environments or in their 'element'. She holds a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of Sydney, which she completed following a Bachelor of Human Movement at the University of Technology Sydney.
She brings extensive experience across clinical private practice, early education, primary and high schools, and out in the community. With this diverse background, Sophie has supported children and adolescents with a wide range of diagnoses and unique needs.
Passionate about making therapy relevant and functional, Sophie ensures that every goal aligns with the daily realities of the families she supports. She is known for her warm, fun, and deeply compassionate approach, creating an environment where both children and parents feel genuinely connected and supported throughout their therapeutic journey.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is occupational therapy?
Occupational Therapy (OT) is a health profession that supports people to develop, maintain, build or regain the skills they need to participate in their everyday activities or 'occupations'. Occupational therapists work with individuals to improve their independence, wellbeing, and participation at home, school, work, and in the community.
In the world of children/adolescence, Paediatric occupational therapy helps children and young people build the practical skills they need and find meaningful at their life stage — from fine motor tasks like handwriting, to sensory regulation, self-care, and social participation. Your Occupational Therapist will focus on the whole person to address physical, cognitive, and environmental aspects that will better support their development and quality of life.
What will my child's OT journey look like?
Every child is unique, and your family's journey with Occupational Therapy will be too. Your child's individual needs, priorities and goals will guide what OT looks like for your family.
We'll begin with an initial consultation to learn more about your child and family, talk about what you'd like support with, set goals together and decide how often sessions should take place. The initial meeting and first couple of sessions are great for building rapport with your child to make sure the therapist is the right fit!
We'll keep in regular contact throughout therapy and work closely with you and any other professionals involved in your child's care. This could be teachers, speech therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, Paediatricians or even previous OT's.
Your child's progress will be monitored, and we'll work with you to determine the next steps once goals are achieved or simply when life happens! This may look like:
- Continuing OT for another term
- Reducing the number or time of sessions
- Taking a break from OT and monitoring progress for a term
- Celebrating that goals have been achieved and OT support is no longer required!
Do I need a referral to get started?
No referral is required to book an initial consultation. Some funding pathways, such as certain NDIS or Medicare arrangements, may have their own requirements — get in touch and we can talk through what applies to your situation.
Do you accept NDIS funding?
Yes, we work with NDIS participants across self-managed and plan-managed funding. Reach out with your plan details and we'll help you understand how our services fit within your plan.
What ages do you work with?
We support children and young people aged 3–21 years, from tiny tots through to adolescence, with therapy tailored to each stage of development.
